A Lesson on Honeybees

What to do First

First, you’ve made the right decision in contacting a professional to remove your honeybees.  Honeybees, unlike many other species of insects are very social creatures.  Their queen’s sole job is to lay eggs and she does this very intently.  She can lay up to 2,000 eggs a day in her prime.  This creates a hive which is very large.  Some that I have removed have been as large as approximately 80,000 bees.  More typically, a nest will be around 40,000 bees.  This isn’t something a home owner no matter how brave (or foolish) will want to handle alone.  Really, if you don’t call me, call another professional.  It isn’t something to try on your own!

A professional bee removal company such as ours is adept at locating the nest, exposing that nest, and removing it with the least amount of invasion to your home. We’ve been doing this for nearly 10 years full-time and are committed to doing it right.  What’s more we guarantee our work.  That’s right.  We guarantee that no honeybees will ever come back to the place where we’ve worked. We can’t guarantee your whole house, but the place where we work will be safe against honeybees.  We’ll also take the time to recommend ways that you, the homeowner, can protect the rest of your home against honeybees, yellow jackets, and bald-faced hornets.

Typically honeybees like an empty cavity such as between floor joists, wall studs, above or below bay windows, or behind fascia boards in overhangs.  They can also find other areas, but remember there will be a lot of bees and they like to make a huge nest in which to store their honey (winter food) and pollen (baby bee food). So, the longer you put off getting the bees removed and relocated, the bigger the nest will get especially if there’s a nectar flow on such as in the spring time.

By the way, we never, ever kill honeybees.  We take them live.  Some we keep, but most we pass on to other beekeepers who we’re sure will take care of them.  Honeybees are our best pollinators and we need them!

So your first step is to choose a reputable bee removal company.

Just leave the bees alone until you can give us a call or email us and we’ll be glad to spend the time to answer any questions you might have.
